Here I have included some of my favorite science apps for younger students. Technology is a great way to have students explore the world around them from the comfort of their classroom. Technology is a growing tool for students to use throughout their schooling. K-2 students will many times have access to technology so the apps below are some great options to incorporate into your lessons!

One of my favorite apps that I have explored is Wonder Farm. Wonder Farm is an interactive early childhood education app that is part of plants curriculum. Students will decide how much sunlight and water to give each plant, watching it continue to grow. If the students do not give the plants what they need, the plant will not grow as tall. Students have a fun time trying to figure out exactly what the plants need to grow as tall as possible.

Another one of my favorite apps is Marco Polo Weather. This interactive weather app allows for early childhood students to explore aspects of the weather. Students can control everything about the weather from the temperature, how much wind there is, if it is daytime or nighttime. Students can also customize their character and change their clothes based on the weather. There are other customizable aspects of this app that students enjoy playing with. This app is great for students to learn about the weather and learn about appropriate clothing choices throughout the seasons.

One last app that I would like to highlight is Marco Polo Ocean. I enjoy the Marco Polo apps (weather, ocean, and arctic) because they are easy for early education students to learn how to use and they are very much a student led app. The Ocean version is Interactive app which allows students to explore the depths of the ocean, completing puzzles along the way! The puzzles include dragging different objects and placing them into an underwater scene. Students can explore the deep depths of the ocean or they can explore up by the shore, adding different sea creatures to their ocean scene.

Hi! I love incorporating technology into my lessons because it creates a more engaging lesson for them. During STEM week last month, there was a science professor that came to our school and conducted a lesson about plants with the kids. During this lesson they used the plant app that you mentioned in this post and the students enjoyed being apart of the experience of the growing plant and contributing to what the plant needed to survive. I haven’t heard of the other apps that you mentioned but I can’t wait to check them out and use them in my own classroom!

I love giving the students an app and seeing where they will take it! I have used some similar apps. The students particularly liked being able to explore the science apps that revolved around shapes and shadows, and I see some like it on your list!
